Probation office could move to EGF City Hall
EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ)--A probation office may be moving into East Grand Forks City Hall.
Tri-County Community Corrections went in front of City Council to propose renting space in City Hall for their satellite probation office.
Their office is currently located in the Polk County Human Service Center, but Tri-County Officials tell us another business in that building is expanding, forcing them out.
The satellite office serves at least 200 people in our area who are under some kind of supervision, primarily for drug related offenses.
“Many of these people are your neighbors, they are community members. You may just not know that they're under supervision. So in that perspective, nothing really changes,” said Tri-County Community Corrections Executive Director, Andrew Larson.
City officials expect the issue to be readdressed in a couple of weeks
