GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ)--Parking changes are leading to major tickets in downtown Grand Forks.

Parking changes are leading to major tickets downtown Grand Forks.

The Kennedy Bridge is closed until Friday which means all of it's traffic has been diverted downtown over the Sorlie bridge.

The city has closed off parking along Demers and some side streets in an effort to help traffic flow.

"No Parking" signs are up, it seems some residents have not gotten the message.

"People are used to parking in a certain place and they consider it their lucky day if they show up and they're favorite spot is available and they don't look for those temporary signs because they're not accustomed to seeing them,” said Lt. Derik Zimmel of the Grand Forks Police Department.

The police have been today and will continue ticketing people who park in these temporary "No Parking" zones.
