Four Athletic Director Finalists announced by UND
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- Though the names were already out of the bag, UND officially announced the four finalists to become the new athletic director.
Each candidate will be coming to Grand Forks within the next week.
All finalists will have a full schedule of interviews when they visit UND's campus and each will have their own public forum.
Listed are the four finalists:
-M. Montgomery Porter III, Senior Associate Athletic Director, Western Michigan University
-Michael Mannausau, Associate Athletics Director, Athletics Major Gifts, UND Alumni Association and Foundation
-Kellie Elliott, Assistant Vice President/Deputy Athletic Director, University of Texas at San Antonio
-William Chaves, Director of Athletics, Eastern Washington University
Now the question becomes, when will we know the final decision?
“We hope that we'll be able to make a decision in the very near future and then it's up to the individual and his or her family to determine when they can make the move. Anytime you have a search like this, you want the person here sooner rather than later,” says Tom Dilorenzo, search Committee Chair.
“Everything is teed up right now for this next athletic director to come in and really move us forward. I think it's critical we get the right person and that we take advantage of this tremendous opportunity,” says Peter Johnson, Committee Member.
Each finalist will have their own public forum with the first one beginning this Sunday.
During these forums, there will be a part where the public can ask the candidate questions.
The Athletics Director Finalist Open Forums will be held 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the following dates and at the following locations:
Sunday, Jan. 7, Gorecki Alumni Center Gransberg Room -- Monty Porter
Monday, Jan. 8, Energy & Environmental Research Center Discovery Hall -- Mike Mannausau
