Now we head to the Bullring where it was WDAZ night at River Cities Speedway. In the Midwest Mods, this is Todd Johnson in the 21 car. He takes the heat. Now to the street stocks. This is in heat two. Daniel Aberle from Finley, North Dakota cruising to take the checkered flag. Next up were the late models. In the 71 car, it's Dustin Strand finishing way ahead of his competition in heat two. Last up were the sprint cars. In heat three. It's Grand Forks' Mark Dobmeier. He pulled ahead in the final lap to take the heat.
Now to U of M Crookston baseball where Reed Hjelle from East Grand Forks made some history. Hjelle was announced as the program's first All-America award recipient after he was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America Third Team. In his junior season with the Golden Eagles, he hit .436 with 50 RBI and 10 home runs. He also scored 38 runs for the ball club as well.
NCE/U-H snags two wins in section 8A tournament.
Sacred Heart defeats West Marshall, 2-1.
Red River falls to Fargo Davies, 8-5 in 8 innings. Central is defeated by Valley City, 23-0 in five innings.
Red River falls to Sheyenne, 3-2 in the EDC title game.
Now to Red River softball where the Roughriders are heading into the EDC tournament as a three seed. Red River finished the regular season with a 10-6 record while having a 7-2 record in conference play. The Roughriders will take on a Fargo Davies team that they have played twice this season. In the two games, Red River outscored the Eagles, 36-7 but don't want to be overconfident heading into tomorrow's game.
Park River/Fordville-Lankin takes down Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich, 8-2 in game one and then 7-4 in game two to advance to the state tournament.
Sacred Heart falls to Lake Park-Audubon, 15-7.
Thompson falls to Central Cass in the championship, 10-0.
